Since he started practicing workers’ compensation and Social Security Disability law in 1979, Julius Young has represented thousands of people who have sustained life-changing injuries or illnesses on the job. In every case, his goal has been to secure the medical treatments his clients need and the maximum benefits they are entitled to, so they and their families can survive potentially devastating circumstances. Julius is honored to have a stellar reputaion within the legal community as a trial attorney and negotiator. He’s skilled in presenting the testimony of vocational experts and economists in cases where the issue involves total disability and impairment. And the intersection of law and medicine is particularly interesting to him. Over the years, Julius has been deeply involved in the workers’ compensation community. He was a board member of the Workers’ Compensation Section Executive Committee of the California Lawyers Association from 2007 to 2010, has sat as a judge pro tem at the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) since 2005, has been consultant to LexisNexis on workers’ comp publications since 2008, was an instructor on Social Security Disability issues for Lorman Education Services, and has lectured widely to union groups such as the Teamsters, Machinists, UFCW, IBEW, SEIU, AFSCME, Northern California Carpenters, and Northern California Painters. He has also lectured at the request of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association, Industrial Claims Association, State Compensation Insurance Fund, the California Society of Industrial Medicine and Surgery, Diablo Valley Industrial Claims Association, California Self-Insurers Association, California Coalition on Workers’ Compensation, and the OPEIU. Additionally, he’s been a training consultant for the UC Hastings Law San Francisco Workers Rights Clinic, was an advisor to Worksafe on workers’ comp and safety issues, and has served on an advisory committee regarding RAND Corporation studies at the request of the State of California Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation. He is the founder, writer, and editor of an award-winning blog on workers’ compensation, in which he sometimes addresses far-ranging political issues.
