The California Senate Committee on Labor, Public Employment and Retirement unanimously passed a bill proponents say would improve the medical-legal process.
The committee on Wednesday voted 5-0 to pass AB 1293, by Assemblymember Greg Wallis, R-Riverside.
The bill would require the Division of Workers' Compensation create a template for parties to request a qualified medical evaluator and a template QMEs can use for med-legal reports.
The bill would also require the division to create a process allowing system participants to submit reports that are allegedly inaccurate or incomplete. And it would require the DWC to annually evaluate med-legal reports and publish an annual report on its findings.
AB 1293 was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
